Empowering People

Driving Team Gets Triple Shot of Education

This month, we put an extra emphasis on empowering our drivers with a variety of educational resources and tools that will enable them to work together, respond quickly, and strive for continuous improvement.

Customer Service Tips for Drivers

Like most transportation companies, our customers often look to our drivers for insight, product questions, and issue resolution. Knowing this, we compiled a few of our popular customer service tips into a brief article.  Armed with this helpful information, new and existing employees can reference back to these tips as a way to help improve customer experiences in the future.

October Safety Meeting Topic: Fire Safety

Earlier this year, we began digitizing our monthly safety meetings providing consistent, easy-to-digest training content. As part of that initiative, team members recently underwent Fire Safety in the workplace. The short video showcased information describing what causes a fire, how to respond if one occurs, and the best practices for a fire prevention plan. With a simple snap of a QR code, they were able to access this virtual meeting anytime, anywhere. One more way we can lean into our mission of empowering the American worker!

Tablet Training Across the Board

It’s no secret that creating a paperless workplace can save time, money, and resources. It also provides a more efficient transfer of information, increasing productivity and providing better customer service. Integrify, a software company focused on streamlining the transfer of information, points out that when departments can more effectively share their knowledge, they are able to continue to innovate. Knowing this importance, we are continuing to adapt and change so that we push our limits and serve more communities than ever before.

Determined to further advance our processes, each truck in the Service Sanitation fleet is now retrofitted with a tablet that displays the all-new MobilePak app, allowing our drivers to re-sequence their work, snap photos of operational issues, and update dispatch and customers with real-time information regarding their rental equipment. The implementation of these tablets will soon help eliminate the reams of papers we print each day, while also dramatically increasing route-planning efficiency.

Implementing GOAL Stickers

During our September safety meeting, we reviewed some important accident prevention tips when driving. One of those tips was to follow the G.O.A.L. method, also known as Get Out and Look before backing. Avatar Management Services helps to define this method as checking around your vehicle before backing, looking for pedestrians, road hazards, and any objects not seen in mirrors to avoid an accident. As a continued reminder, the driver services team will soon be adding GOAL stickers to the inside of each truck as an additional reminder for team members to get out and look whenever possible. This additional reminder is meant to encourage folks to take that step and help cut down on unnecessary accidents.
